It's your first day of adventure! You will start the day by getting acquainted with Stone Town, the area of Zanzibar where we will be staying during this Escape. Stone Town is a lively place where you’ll find a mixture of Arabic, African, Indian and European cultures living comfortably together. While you wonder around the city, your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey through the old slave market, the Sultan’s Palace, and many other remarkable sites. After this wonderful experience, you have a free late afternoon to enjoy the wonders that Stone Town has to offer.

Included: hotel accommodation, breakfast, guided walking tour, entrance fees, lunch, and water

Zanzibar is nicknamed the Spice Island due to being one of the world’s leading producers of spices such as clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon in the 19th century. You'll be escorted to a spice farm on which you'll learn all about the exotic spices and tropical fruit used by the locals. After the tour, you will enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch at the farm. Then, the evening is yours to explore!

September 20

Today you are visiting a village that is one of the most untouched by modern lifestyle and mass tourism.  You'll start at the beach*, where you will meet female seaweed farmers. You will learn about the farming and have a chance to try it out yourself! Following this, you'll visit the inside of the village to learn about village life and visit a local school. This Escape covers a small donation to the school, but you are free to donate more. Lastly, you will feast on a delicious, Swahili style lunch by the beach. Upon our return to Stone Town, the evening is yours to relax or hit the streets.

*For your safety, this starting point may be changed due to a high-tide.

Included: hotel accommodation, breakfast, village tour, school visit, donation, lunch, transportation

September 21

You're starting off today on a boat from the shores of Stone Town to Prison Island. Don't let the name fool you; although this island was formerly used to house prisoners, it is now used as a tortoise sanctuary. Enjoy the island by spotting the peacocks and taking pictures with 150-year-old tortoises. On our way back to Stone Town, we'll stop at a colorful coral reef for some *snorkeling.

*For your safety, snorkeling will not be available in the event of choppy water conditions.

Included: hotel accommodation, breakfast, Prison Island tour, snorkeling gear, transportation

September 22

It's our last full day in Zanzibar and it ends with a bang! Upon transportation to the town of Fumba, you will board a private Zanzibarian dhow. You'll sail to uninhabited islands, snorkel in crystal clear turquoise waters, spot wild dolphins, and enjoy the warm Indian Ocean. Lunch is a tasty, traditional Zanzibarian buffet consisting of chicken, lobster, calamari, grilled fish, rice, Spice Island sauces, fresh-squeezed juices, beer, soda, and more!

In the late evening, join the group for a farewell dinner to reminisce on our adventures and say goodbye.
